At the start of 2024, ICJA – supported by the Berliner Entwicklungspolitischer Ratschlag (BER) – joined forces with long-standing partners in Ukraine and Israel to strengthen civil society and foster understanding through Berlin’s new city partnerships with Kyiv (2023) and Tel Aviv (2025)
Together, we share one goal: to make dialogue stronger and peace possible. Built on trust and collaboration, this partnership creates spaces where people connect, learn from each other, and grow – because real change begins with conversation.
Our Focus:
- Dialogue and non-violent conflict transformation
- Empowering young people as dialogue facilitators and peer multipliers
2024 Highlights:
- Development of a joint training concept with ICJA, Active Youth Stella (Kyiv), and Israeli Volunteer Association (Tel Aviv), supported by a Youth Council and conflict transformation expert Michaela Leiss
- Training of 21 Young Leaders for Change from Berlin, Kyiv, and Tel Aviv in Berlin
- Workshops on conflict management, dialogue promotion, and nonviolent communication in Berlin and the participants’ home cities
This project is funded by the city of Berlin (LEZ) and by Erasmus+, and represents a concrete step toward active solidarity in times of crisis.
Looking Ahead:
- Expanding the Young Leaders network
- Annual training programs starting in 2026
- Building an NGO network dedicated to fostering dialogue and supporting civil society initiatives
Our goal is to create a sustainable peace education framework, including a practical training handbook for future activities. Rooted in a commitment to solidarity and democratic values, this project responds to the challenges of war in Ukraine and the current crisis in Israel by fostering dialogue and empowering youth as agents of peaceful change.
